Dr. Prachee Avasthi from the Hemenway Life Sciences Innovation Center at the University of Kansas (www.avasthilab.org) will be speaking on “The role of early-career researchers in changing the culture of scholarly communication”. Dr. Avasthi has a long history of promoting and engaging with journal preprints (see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29889024) and in discussion with Cambridge researchers interested in the same issues this will be a lively evening’s debate on how postdocs can help change the problems in the publishing system and how it support scientific advance.

Katherine Brown and Mate Palfy will be providing a short presentation. They are running preLights, which is part of the journal Development (Company of Biologists).
