Postdocs of Cambridge Society

The next Cinema Night will be on Saturday 21 February to see Selma.  We will meet at the Arts Picturehouse bar around 17:00 for pre-film drinks and then catch the 18:00 showing at the Arts Picturehouse.

IMPORTANT NOTES:  The day of the time has changed.  Instead of going on Friday, we are now going on Saturday.

Also, the film will not be at our usual theater of the Cineworld/Lights Cinema.  Instead the film is at the Arts Picturehouse.

The reason for the change is that the Friday showtimes are limited and start earlier than most postdocs can make.  This is unusual for a film like Selma when it only came out two weeks ago.  Nonetheless, we are moving the cinema night to the weekend and hope everyone who attends has a fun Saturday night!

Tickets: We will be seeing the 18:00 showing on Saturday 21 February at the Arts Picturehouse.  Tickets can be purchased from their website:

https://www.picturehouses.com/cinema/Arts_Picturehouse_Cambridge/film/selma

I will be seating at F17.  Please try to get a seat in or near row F and post your seat on Facebook so that we can sit together as a group.

Film Synopsis: This film is the story of a movement. It chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. This film tells the real story of how the revered leader and visionary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his brothers and sisters in the movement prompted change that forever altered history.
