Postdocs of Cambridge Society

Please note that this event is no longer scheduled for August the 5th! Due to heavy rain it's been moved to a hopefully drier 19th of August.

Join the PdOC and mingle with other postdocs for an afternoon walk in the most iconic tea garden in town!

This event is currently closed.

At the end of an idyllic 4km walk by the South banks of the Cam lies The Orchard, a fantastic Tea Garden guarded by the portraits of the hundreds of celebrities it has hosted along the last century. Join us for a pleasant walk and delightful Tea. The laid back meadows of the Cam banks are the perfect landscape to get to know other postdocs and breath some of the fresh air of the English Summer!

We are meeting at the entrance of the Postdoc Centre in 16 Mill Lane by 14:30. There's plenty of space for parking your bike!

At 14:30 sharp we will departure to The Orchard. The walk is around 1h at a placid pace. The banks can sometimes be a bit soft and muddy, bring comfy shoes that you can toss in the washing machine if necessary!

We'll have tea from 15:30 to 17:00-17:30, you can indulge yourself with the chocolatiest cake, go full Brit with a scone and clotted cream, or save your appetite with a clear Earl Gray. Around 17:30 we'll head back to town, but you can of course leave the Tea Garden a bit earlier if you need to.

We will be back in Mill Lane around 18:30. If you still have some energy left, you can join us in to The Anchor for an after-walk drink.
